Drive Through VOTING... But No Fries With That!!!!!!! DivX

It's been a shining symbol of America's consumer convenience for more than 50 years.

Beginning with burgers - anything from a cup of coffee to dry cleaning is available to Americans without them having to get out of their cars.

Now perhaps the most important right in the Land of the Free is available via a drive-through - their vote.

Voters in Orange County, California, pulled up into a car park outside the county registrar's office to cast ballots or register to vote at an electronic drive-through poll station on Monday.

A voting lane was set up to check they were registered before they were ushered on to one of six electronic polling stations to roll down their window and cast their vote.

It was a one-day only offer for residents on the last day of voter registration for Californians.

Orange County Registrar Neal Kelley said voter registration was up 15 per cent in Orange County from four years ago and the electronic early voting would help ease overcrowding next month.

Speaking about election day itself on November 4, Mr Kelley said: 'I know it is going to be busy as heck. We're preparing for heavy turnout.'

Other registrar offices across California were open late into the night and set up drop boxes to receive voter registration forms before the midnight deadline - but only Orange County - nicknamed The O.C - was offering the drive-through voting service.
