It looks like MGM is actually going through with its plans to make
Poltergeist 4." The studio has hired Juliet Snowden and Stiles White to
write a script. They are also currently looking for a director.

Steven Spielberg co-wrote the 1982 script about "a suburban home built
over an Indian burial ground and thus inhabited by a nasty spirit." The
1982 Poltergeist starred Craig T. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Dominique
Dunne and Heather O'Rourke. "Poltergeist" also spawned two sequels.

“Walk into the light!!” that must be what executives were told when
they agreed to this one. Poltergeist, according to the trades is going
to do another one.

The "Poltergeist," directed by Tobe Hooper from a script co-written by
Steven Spielberg, miraculously skirted an R rating despite its
children-in-constant-peril, toy clown-strangling, face-peeling,
skeleton-swimming medley of horrors. The MGM/UA release grossed $122
million worldwide and earned Oscar nominations for its ILM-designed
visual effects, sound effects and score.
