Nokia N810 Internet Tablet Doubles As Mixer Interface!!!!!!! FUCKUPAYME

I’m still not sold on the idea of ‘UMPCs’ or ‘internet tablets’,
mostly because they tend to be just too big to carry in your pocket. If
I’m going to have to bring a bag with me to carry something, it’ll be a
full-on laptop or netbook instead. And while the Nokia N810 kind of
walks the line when it comes to being pocket-friendly, the larger
screen does allow it to do some cool stuff. For example, Internet
Tablet Talk Forums member ‘dubwise’ uses it to connect to his Thinkpad
via VNC which then allows him to remotely control his Yamaha 01V96
digital mixer:

The Thinkpad controls my Yamaha 01V96 digital mixer, and the N810 gets
there through VNC. The resolution is perfect. All 20 faders fit
onscreen, no scrolling. I’ve been mixing some simple shows from a seat
in the audience. Even for the hands-on and chaotic shows, being able to
tweak the balcony speakers from the balcony, and set the stage mix
standing next to the musicians, is simply amazing.

It’s definitely a clever trick, particularly since the 800×480 screen
accommodates all 20 faders, but while you might get away with adjusting
those using a small finger, there’s no way you’d be able to tweak those
pots without using a stylus of some sort.
