A mummified woman discovered in her flat more than ten years after her death owes $13,000 in unpaid rent.



The disappearance of the old woman was not reported for more than a
decade, and she was only discovered when neighbours had to go to the
police after a water pipe broke in the supposedly empty apartment in
Donetsk, Ukraine.



The family who lived directly next door to the women they once called
Eleonora reportedly believed she had been taken to a nursing home – the
last time they saw her was in 1997. The window in the apartment was
left open, which meant her body was preserved and so neighbours never
noticed the smell, reports Pravda. Police said the corpse had been
completely dehydrated and mummified.



Since the time of her death, the woman's debt had been mounting – and it now stands at almost $13,000.
