Busta's Drop From Aftermath/Interscope Could Be A "BLESSING!!!!!!!"

Seemingly calm before the storm, both Busta Rhymes' MySpace page and
official website had not been updated since June. Perhaps he'd been
hard at work putting the finishing touches on his long-and-overdue
album "Blessed," or maybe he was busy extinguishing the flames from his
burnt bridges with Aftermath/Interscope Records.
Rumors surfacing from July of Rhymes' departure from his four-year term
with the label have been settled. It was reported on Aftermath's blog
that "Busta Rhymes was dropped from Interscope due to a heated argument
with Jimmy Iovine. He later confirmed that the album would be released
in late September," the blog stated. Plans have changed though, as the
general manager of Aftermath confirmed Busta "got dropped," but the
pushback of "Blessed" is now slated to be released through Universal
Motown.



Indeed, the 36-year-old rapper will join the likes of headlining
artists including Lil Wayne, Nelly, Lloyd, Q-Tip and Ashanti. And, by
examining the impact of Universal Motown on this past year's Billboard
charts, that is no downgrade for Rhymes.



Soon after joining Aftermath/Interscope in 2004, Rhymes underwent a
transitional phase, chopping his signature dreads during a photo shoot
at a New York Barbershop. The artist claimed it was necessary to move
forward along with his evolution. No word yet on what's in store for
his makeover this time around.
