Common Changes New CD Name, Works Less With KanYe West!!!!!!!

No one is immune to the "album push back" bug, and Common is no
exception. After changing the name, release date, and production of his
upcoming album the Chicago MC sat down with MTV to dish on the details
behind the new project.

First titled Invincible Summer, Common says the album's name change was due to the timing and feel of the finished product.

"It was feeling like an album to me," he said. "And unfortunately,
we missed the summer release. So I was like, 'It can't be called
Invincible Summer anymore.' And Universal Mind Control is the name of
one of the songs. I like that for an album title. It kind of describes
the music too. [The song] sounds futuristic, but it has an Afrika
Bambaataa feel to it. I love what Hype [Williams] did with the video."

Instead of turning to Kanye West to produce the entire project, Common
says he went with Mr. DJ and the Neptunes. It wasn't until the album
was done that West jumped on the track Punch Drunk Love.

"I felt that I made the change because it came real natural," he said.
"I was talking to Pharrell about working, and we went into the studio -
me, him and Chad [Hugo]. When I make albums, I like to focus on maybe
one or two producers. Pharrell, we both was making that magic. I was
like, 'Let's keep going.' "

Universal Mind Control is due out in stores on November 11.
