CAPTAIN AMERICA Will Be Set In WWII!!!!!!! [In Theaters 2011]

So yup, forget all that you heard about Will Smith playing
Captain America in “The First Avenger: Captain America” that popped up
online last month thanks to an actor, because Marvel has made it
official, or at least according to Production Weekly, who has put out a
synopsis of what the film will be about, and where it will be set. Yes,
Captain America is still a skinny white kid name Steve Rogers, and yes,
it its main setting will still be World War II, and it will follow
Rogers as he becomes Captain America, the scourge of the Nazis and
Hollywood Liberals everywhere.

Here’s the official storyline:

“Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail
youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis
in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because
of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy’s
earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity
to take part in a special experiment… Operation: Rebirth. After weeks
of tests, Rogers was at last administered the “Super-Soldier Serum” and
bombarded by “vita-rays.” Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with
a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then
put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three
months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America.
Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America
has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and
leader of the Avengers.”

Did I mention how much I love Marvel Studios? Seriously, Marvel forming
their own studios to control the destiny of their own movies, based on
their own properties was the best thing to ever happen to comic book
geeks everywhere. Can you imagine had another Hollywood studio gotten
their hands on Captain America?

“The First Avenger: Captain America” is being set up as the prelude to
“The Avengers” movie, which is scheduled to be released a few months
after “Captain America” hits theaters in 2011.
