Interscope Not Happy With Cool Kids XXL Snub

Last year, XXL released a special issue dedicated to "The Next Generation" of hip hop superstars. That issue featured the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Saigon, Papoose, Joell Ortiz and more. In the same vein this year, that have released an issue with the "Top 10 Freshman of the Year". Each emcee is featured in the issue as being a new, up and coming promising face to the hip hop world. Those included are:

Wale
Asher Roth
Charles Hamilton
Ace Hood
Kid Cudi
B.O.B
Mickey Factz
Cory Gunz
Blu
Curren$y

Of course whenever a list like this is made, there is going to be some hurt feelings but one powerhouse in the urban world is not happy. That would be the offices of Interscope records regarding the new underground powerhouse The Cool Kids getting the Susan Lucci treatment. Well....I guess she wasn't necessarily snubbed, but she was 1-20 something at the Emmy's. Mikey Rocks & Chuck Inglish have had an incredible buzz for over the last 18 months that includes a national TV spot with Rhapsody, features in Entourage and a HUGE online cult following.

Although Interscope is not happy with the snub, there is not much they can do in terms of pulling strings. Interscope is not able to pull Em, Dre or 50 from the magazine and CANNOT be willing to leverage their superstars for the up and comers. That would not be a wise move politically.

So what option do they have? None. All Interscope (The distributing company for XL Records, who has signed Cool Kids) can do is suck it up, stay on the grind as much as possible and take that top spot next year for the following issue.
