The British Angler Who Landed A WORLD-RECORD... `'6.5 Stone Carp' Nicknamed `Scar!!!!!!!

A British angler has smashed a world record by landing a carp weighing six-and-a-half stone.

Andre Komornicki took just 10 minutes to reel in the monster fish during a trip to France.

The 64-year-old only realised he might have broken the record when he hauled it on to the scales.

He said: 'I just couldn't get over the size of it, it was huge. The sheer length and width of it was absolutely incredible.'

Mr Komornicki added: ''When I realised it was a record there was just
silence for a while, mainly because I was catching my breath.

'Then there was lots of back-slapping and we had a few beers to celebrate. It was all a dream and it took a while to sink in.'

Andre, from Seer Green, near Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, said he is
only used to catching 33lb carp fish in England - three times lighter
than the record-busting catch.

He was half-way through a week's trip to a fishery in Dijon, France, with friends when he hooked the record.

He said the party was just settling down for the night when his rod alarm went off at 10pm.

He said: 'I grabbed my rod and surprisingly it came in quite easily
considering the size of it. It only took me 10 or 15 minutes to bring
it to the bank.

'It went in the net quite easily and that was when my friend shone his head torch on it and he said 'it's the scar fish.'

'He is known as a bit of a leg-puller so I thought he was joking at
first. Then I took a look at it and saw the line around its body.'

The fish is normally heavier at this time of year as they bulk themselves up for the winter months.

Married Andre said: 'It is a big fish anyway so I realised there was a chance of a record due to the time of year.

'We weighed it twice just to be sure and it came in at 95lbs, but we had to take off 4lbs for the weighing sling it was in.'

After posing for the obligatory photo with his prized catch, Andre and
fishery owner Luke Moffat treated the hook wound before releasing it.

The fish, nicknamed Scar Fish, is well-known in angling circles due to
a previous tangle it had with a fishing line which left a huge wound
running round its body.

Andre's Polish father emigrated to Britain during World War Two and flew Wellington bombers for the Allies.

The biggest carp fish ever caught was a Siamese Giant Carp that weighed 20 stones and was caught by a Thai fisherman in 2007.
