Suge Knight Accused of Hiding Death Row Masters

Suge Knight is being accused of hiding masters of Death Row songs so that they would not be included in the company's sale to Global Music Group.

The accusation comes via a Deceleration filed by Global Music Group with the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Court accusing Knight and associate Carl "Butch" Small of stealing masters.

Global Music Group, which has agreed to purchase Death Row's assets and secured financing to do so, says they will not proceed with the sale until all assets are in order.

Michael J. Collesano, Esq., General Counsel of Global Music Group, Inc. says he was contacted this past weekend by Small's ex-girlfriend. The woman told Collesano that at the direction of Suge Knight between 2001 and 2005, Small removed certain master recordings, videos and other property of Death Row Records from Pacific Coast Title Archives in California to "get it gone," presumably in advance of Death Row's bankruptcy filing.

On October 2nd, 2008 the woman is said to have taken sheriff deputies to a storage unit in Burlington, Michigan under her name, where she showed them boxes that appeared to contain master recordings and videos.

"It would stand to reason that Suge and Carl would have taken the cream of the crop if they intended to hide these recordings" Collesano said.

The woman says she may have additional Death Row material in her possession and that Knight's attorney has already contacted her and that she "fears for her life."

"It is undeniable that the Trustee must investigate the possibility of bankruptcy fraud on the part of Mr. Small, the debtor and related individuals, and a complete accounting of the inventory must be conducted as soon as possible before any sale of the assets can be made" Collesano said. "We cannot see how anyone can bid on the assets with such a cloud surrounding the property being sold."
