Kenya Declares November 5th National Holiday For Obama
In honor of the election of Senator Barack Obama as the next President of the United States, Kenya has declared today (November 5) a national holiday.
According to Bloomberg.com, the day was declared a holiday in honor of Obama's win and the fact that Obama's father, Barack Obama Sr., was born in Kenya.
"This is a momentous day not only in the history of the United States of America, but also for us in Kenya,'' President Mwai Kibaki said in a statement. `"The victory of Senator Obama is our own victory because of his roots here in Kenya. As a country, we are full of pride for his success."
Obama's father died in a car accident in 1982.
