Scarface `Turns 25

Brian De Palma’s modern classic, "Scarface," turns 25 today — and die-hard supporters of the film haven’t failed to notice.

In late summer, nearly 1,000 supporters attended a screening in Miami,
followed by a Q&A with Steven Bauer, who played Tony Montana’s
suave best-friend Manny Ribera in the film.

"They flew me into Miami for it," says the Cuban-born Bauer over the phone from California.

"I asked the crowd if they knew the lines of dialogue from the movie
[popular catch phrases like "Say hello to my little friend"] and they
started yelling them at me."

It’s not unusual for Bauer to meet "Scarface" supporters.

"Everyday is ‘Scarface’ day," he says. "There’s no corner I’ve been to
on the planet, where I don’t get besieged, noticed, identified and
mobbed.

Bauer’s co-star, Puerto Rican actress Miriam Colón, who played Tony’s disapproving Cuban mother, knows the feeling.
