Man & Woman `'Both In Their 60s,' Charged In DRIVE-BY-SHOOTING

Carl Hemp Lester, 66, of West Virginia and Virginia L. Wheeler,
62, of North Carolina have been arrested and charged in the drive-by
shooting of a man who is married to a relative of the suspects.

A 66-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman have been arrested and
charged in the drive-by shooting of a man who is married to a relative
of the suspects.

Police say Carl Hemp Lester of West Virginia was the shooter and
Virginia L. Wheeler of North Carolina the getaway driver in the
shooting of a man outside his Virginia Beach home on Tuesday morning.
Both suspects were arrested in Roderfield, W.Va., where Lester lives.

The victim of the shooting, who lives on Dock Landing Road in Virginia
Beach, remains hospitalized in stable condition. His wife is Wheeler's
daughter and Lester's niece. Police spokeswoman Margie Long said the
shooting victim has "a tumultuous relationship with members of his
wife's family."

Lester and Wheeler have been charged with aggravated malicious wounding and various firearms and conspiracy charges.
