After receiving a substantial amount of petitioning and outcry from their decision to cancel two specialty channels last month, Sirius XM Radio has responded by giving Backspin and The Strobe a second chance.

Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer of Sirius XM Radio, stated their expected return date will be January 15th of next year, which coincides with the addition of the newly-tapped Beat Morning Show. “Bringing back The Strobe and Backspin, and adding The Beat Morning Show, is part of our commitment to respond to our subscribers' overwhelming passion for our service,” Greenstein explained in a press release.

Acknowledging the many listeners who previously felt sour by The Strobe and Backspin’s cancellation, Greenstein offered his gratitude for their continual support and input. “We are fortunate to have an enthusiastic audience that embraces satellite radio with unprecedented fervor. We will continue to listen to them as we strive to create the best audio entertainment experience available.”

While The Strobe showcases '70s and '80s dance music primarily for their disco listeners, Backspin will continue to provide old-school Hip Hop classics and specialty shows, such as Zulubeats with Afrika Bambaataa.
