BREAKING BOUNDARIES: Led Cubes! 3D Imaging
Reports suggest that the Cube uses video as the input, reconstructs the
original image and displays it in the form of flashing LED bulbs.
Scientists believe that the LED Cube is a functional prototype for a 3D display unit.
In the case of the LED Cube project, scientists used 1000 LEDs
supported by plexiglass. Live video is transmitted in the form of
low-res images to the Cubes central microchip, which then passes on the
data to the microchips of individual LEDs. The data is finally
processed and the corresponding LEDs are switched on. For skeptics,
this is a solid example of why they should start believing that 3D
imaging is well and truly close to realization.
