You’ve probably heard Ludacris’ hit single “What Them Girls Like”
featuring Chris Brown and Sean Garrett, but we bet you didn’t know who
it was intended for…

The track is the first single off Ludacris’ sixth studio album
Theater of the Mind, but it was produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins
for singer/songwriter Sean “The Pen” Garrett with a guest spot by a
certain Sri Lankan artist.

Darkchild revealed us that M.I.A. was supposed to sing the hook (”I
know what them girls like”). “It was going to be Sean Garrett and
M.I.A., and then [Garrett] got Ludacris to jump on it. When Ludacris
heard it, he said, ‘I want that for my album!’”

The two worked out a deal to give Luda the track in return for a guest
rap on Garrett’s lead single “Grippin’” off his debut album Turbo 919.

As for M.I.A., Jerkins said he would love to work with the “Paper
Planes” rapper. “I would love to work with M.I.A. I love her catchiness
and delivery. The fact that she’s underground and now become
commercial… It just authentically happened.”
